To foster healthy families and neighborhoods in low to moderate income communities through social and economic development programs in Norfolk and surrounding cities.
Core Principles
Eastside’s fundamental guiding principles are as follows:
- Communities prosper and remain vital when there is a high degree of interrelatedness, connectivity and collaboration amongst and between the component parts of that community. The component parts include families, children, public systems, nonprofits and faith-based entities.
- Families are empowered to effectively address and/or solve problems that they face on a day-to-day basis when they have access to a variety of helping services at the neighborhood level.
- Children are prepared to become effective citizens in their communities when they are nurtured and developed in loving, safe, and vibrant communities.
- Service to one’s community is the highest calling to which one can respond.
